It's that time of year again...

Make sure you're ready for the first day of school by following our guide!

1. Make sure you have your textbooks!

Meadowridge supplies textbooks from Grades 6 through 10. However, Grade 11 students will need to purchase their own textbooks, and all MYP students will need to get books required for L&L (Language and Literature) class. You can purchase all your required books from Canadian School Boook Exchange, by creating an account and signing up with your school credentials. You can view their website using the button below:

Tip: To potentially save money on books, you can view the required books for your grade on the Canadian School Book Exchange's website, and search the ISBN number on other websites, like Amazon, to compare prices.

Grade 11 students will also need 2 math textbooks that are not sold on the previously mentioned website. These math textbooks are available here. We recommend ordering with other people to save money on shipping.

2. Make sure you have all the supplies you need for school!

Students from Grade 6 to 8 are provided with their own supplies. However, from Grade 9 to 12, you will need to purchase your own supplies. This includes a pencil case, pencils, erasers, pens, binders, and paper. You can find most of these items in a dollar store, although do note these items may be more expensive during the  back to school season.

You will also need a TI 84 Plus CE graphing calculator from Grade 9. This can be purchased from the following retailers below in a variety of colors:

Laptops

All students are expected to bring their own laptop to school after Grade 6. There are many laptops available, making this a difficult decision. Price, storage, battery life, and performance are the most important factors when purchasing a laptop. I would recommend reading reviews online to ensure you purchase a laptop that will last as long as possible. Pen input may also be an important factor, as laptops/tablets are much lighter than multiple binders. However, I recommend avoiding iPads and Chromebooks, as they have limited app support, and are more difficult to work with when turning in files through Managebac, and when working with Microsoft Office files. You can usually find laptops at the best prices at the following websites:

Note: Costco requires a $60 membership to purchase products from their warehouses. However, laptops can be found there routinely at very good prices.

3. Check your classes and advisory teacher!

Your classes, schedule, and teachers, can all be found on the Meadowridge Hub, which can be accessed here. If you cannot access The Hub with your student account, you can try using your parents account, or resetting your password through your school email. The Hub is available here:

4. Bookmark these important pages!

These following pages will be important for your school year. We recommend bookmarking them.

Note: The internet login will not load when you click on it, however, when you get to school and click on the bookmark, it will load once you are connected to the 'StudentsWireless' internet network. You will get the password for 'StudentsWireless' when you get to school.

These bookmarks will be available in The Anonymous Helpers app, which helps you keep track of your schedule, your school tasks, and contact your teachers quickly. It will be available in the coming months, stay tuned!

5. Start packing for your WWOW trip!

WWOW (Week Without Walls) trips are run in the second week of school, and then again in June. For our September trips, you can view the packing lists here by Grade level.

If you're going on a camping trip, make sure your students (or you) are familiar with any camping equipment (e.g. sleeping bags, sleeping pads) before you leave for your trip.

You've made it to the end!

You're now ready for school! If you have any further questions, you can reach out to the school directly, or for advice, you can also contact The Anonymous Helpers through DMs on Instagram. We can't wait to see you next week!
